Commission Process
Commissioning process for splashbacks, larger installations and glass and metal garden sculptures
Commissioning your own glass splashback or wall art, or even one of our metal and glass garden sculptures, is an exciting decision, one that we take seriously as we want you to be delighted with your finished Glass Art at the end of the process.
So if a personal commission is something you think would work for your home space the first step is to call us (07980 765753) or get in touch by email (contact@galiani.co.uk).
1. We value working in partnership with you on the initial design to ensure you will be getting a memorable glass commission. So for the first step we would suggest that you bring any ideas you may have that might help on your initial visit to the studio.
This could include:
· the size you are thinking of;
· pictures of the space you have;
· colour swatches;
· images you like; and
· a mood board, if you have one.
Or why not just come to the studio have a coffee and a chat and be inspired by the Art Glass around you.
If you are based locally, we are always happy to do a home/site visit to discuss designs and take measurements; but if at all possible we encourage you to visit the studio where you can see the glass and choose and compare colours you would like us to use.
2. We will then put a quote together for you, along with our specification sheet used to outline things like size, colours, installation/fittings required and costs and giving you an idea of the likely timeline for getting your commission completed.
Once you are happy with everything, we would ask for a deposit of 50%, with the balance due on completion.
Depending on the design, techniques used or content we may suggest producing a sample for you so that you can get a feeling of the finished piece.
3. Any colour matching and samples would be made and viewed and the final details confirmed.
4. Now we put our combined vision into the glass to create your glass art commission and when we were completely happy we would load it into the kiln. At this point we can send you a photo or you can come to the studio to see your art work before it gets fired. Then the design will be fired, sometimes two to three times depending on the processes involved with a full 24 hours or more for each firing to ensure it is carefully annealed.
5. Once your bespoke work of art is finished we will get in touch to let you know your glass commission is ready for collection from the studio, or by prior agreement have it delivered and fitted or shipped to you. At this point the balance will need to be paid.
6. Sit back. Relax. Enjoy your very own Glass Art Commission from Galiani Glass Art.
