Commission Process

Commissioning process for larger installations and glass and metal garden sculptures

Commissioning one of our amazing metal and glass garden sculptures, or even one of our glass splashbacks or wall art, is an exciting decision, one that we take seriously as we want you to be delighted with your finished Glass Art Garden Sculpture at the end of the process.

So if a personal commission is something you think would work for your garden space the first step is to call us (07980 765753) or email us (contact@galiani.co.uk) and we can get in touch with you.

1.  We value working in partnership with you on the initial design to ensure you will be getting a memorable glass commission. So for the first step we would suggest that you bring any ideas you may have that might help.

This could include:

·           pictures of your garden space or proposed garden design

·           the size and shape you are thinking of

·           the type of metal structure or frame you would like;

·           colour ideas and design concept;

·           thoughts on lighting or positioning; and

·           images you like or mood board around your garden space.

Or why not just come to the studio have a coffee and a chat and be inspired by the Art Glass around you.

If you are based locally, we are always happy to do a home/site visit to discuss designs and take pictures of the proposed space for your sculpture; but if at all possible we encourage you to visit the studio where you can see the glass up close and choose and compare colours you would like us to use while contemplating the shape and size of your sculpture.

2.  We will then put a quote together for you, along with our specification sheet used to outline things like size, colours, installation/fittings/type of metal required and costs and also giving you an idea of the likely timeline for getting your commission completed.

Once you are happy with everything, we would ask for a deposit of 50%, with the balance due on completion.

Depending on the design, techniques used or content we may suggest producing a sample for you so that you can get a feeling of the finished piece.

3.  Any colour matching and samples would be made and viewed and the final details confirmed.

4.  Now we put our combined vision into the glass and metal frame to create your glass art sculpture commission and when we were completely happy we will load it into the kiln.  At this point we can send you a photo or you can come to the studio to see your art work before it gets fired. Then the design will be heated, sometimes two to three times depending on the processes involved, with a full 24 hours or more for each firing to ensure it is carefully annealed.

5.  Once your bespoke garden art is finished we will get in touch to let you know your glass commission is ready for collection from the studio, or by prior agreement have it delivered and fitted or shipped to you. At this point the balance will need to be paid.

6.  Sit back. Relax in your garden and enjoy your very own Glass Art Sculpture created by Galiani Glass Art.
